The challenge

PagerDuty had two key goals for their Giving Season campaign: it had to be inclusive so that everyone could participate, and it had to be highly impactful. How could they encourage more employees to get involved in this last big Goodness push of the year?

The solution

GivingTuesday, the global day of generosity, offered the perfect opportunity to launch their campaign.

Surprise & delight

To foster inclusivity and activate an impact mindset, PagerDuty partnered with their People team to seed each employee with a $50 donation credit on GivingTuesday. Every Dutonian had 14 days to choose a nonprofit they cared about, and invest the company’s funds in their community.

Collaborate across the business

For employees who wanted guidance on where to give, the PagerDuty.org team co-created a Giving Guide. This resource featured nonprofit partners in climate equity, time-critical health and nonprofits recommended by their Employee Resource Groups and Global Community Responders, a network of local social impact champions.

Share the love

Employees were encouraged to share which organization(s) they supported in their internal social channel for a chance to win an additional $150 in donation credits, with two winners selected each week (8 winners in total).

The result

In the 14 days following GivingTuesday 2022…

  • 65% of employees donated their credit (with 40% using it in the first two days)
  • $58,262 USD was donated in total to 600+ unique nonprofits
  • 400 employees viewed the Giving Guide which featured nonprofit partners
  • PagerDuty announced the launch of their year-round 1:1 employee match program due to a year-over-year 85% participation rate in their giving program

By year-end, 95% of Dutonians had either donated or volunteered!  It’s no wonder PagerDuty was the recipient of the 2022 Benevity BeCause Award, because they’re always looking for ways to scale their impact for the nonprofits they and their people care about.
