Common questions about Benevity
Does Benevity accept donations directly?
Benevity processes and distributes donations on behalf of our 950+ clients through our own end-to-end platform.
All contributions, whether from corporate matches, employees or the public via branded donation portals, flow through a network of partner foundations. These foundation partners handle the tax receipts and securely disburse the funds to global nonprofits.

Common questions from users of Benevity
I left my company and can’t log in. How can I access my past donation records?
If you no longer have access to your corporate email or your employee engagement portal, our support team can help you get your records. To protect your data and verify your identity, please submit a support request with the following information:
- Your former employee ID and corporate email address
- Alternative verification: If you don't remember your ID, please provide the name of a nonprofit you contributed to in the last year and the specific amount of that donation.
Once your identity is verified, we will provide a secure, time-sensitive link for you to download your tax receipts/donation acknowledgements and donation history.
I want my donation to go to a specific nonprofit. How do I make sure that happens?
To ensure your donation reaches the right organization or a specific initiative:
Search by unique identifier.
The most accurate way to find a nonprofit is to search by its official tax ID number (e.g., EIN in the US, BN in Canada or Registered Charity Number in the UK). This is a unique identifier that ensures you aren't donating to a similarly named organization. This is helpful if an organization’s legal name is different from its "Doing Business As" (DBA) name.
Use the "leave a comment" field.
Many projects or local initiatives accept donations under the tax ID of a larger "umbrella" organization. If you find the main organization but not the project, look for a comment box during the donation process. You can leave a note here, including which program or initiative you want your funds to support.
Can’t find your nonprofit?
Depending on your company’s program, you may be able to nominate an organization to join Benevity’s Causes Portal. Look for the "Nominate a Cause" link (often found under Quick Links) to submit a nomination. If this option is not available, it may mean your program is limited to specific organizations.
