CHICAGO, IL - May 12, 2011 – Foodie Registry, an innovative website where wedding couples can create a gift registry for restaurant gift certificates, now offers users the ability to register for select food and hunger-related charitable donations alongside their gift certificate options.

Initial non-profit partners featured on the site include the New York City Coalition Against Hunger (New York), God’s Love We Deliver (New York), Citymeals-on-Wheels (New York), Greater Chicago Food Depository (Chicago), Green City Market (Chicago), and Food Bank of the Rockies (Denver).

The initiative is called “Foodies Feed”, and is a direct response to the desire of many modern couples to insert charitable donations or other social do-gooding into their weddings. While there are standalone charitable gift registries already available, Foodie Registry is the first registry to provide users a blend of gift and donation options.

“So many couples make giving a part of their wedding these days in many different ways, but to date the only way to make a registry with donations on it is to make a standalone charity registry” says Foodie Registry cofounder Jennifer Reid. “While that’s a good option for many, we think we can make giving even easier for couples by making donations an option on a non-charity registry that they might already be using. Including this in our offering also reflects Foodie Registry’s commitment to giving back to the communities in which we operate.”
