Every year the Benevity client community shows up on GivingTuesday ready to make a major impact all over the world – this year was no exception! For GivingTuesday 2024 over $140 million in donations, matching and grants was securely processed to support over 56,000 vetted nonprofits – that’s 2,700 more organizations than last year receiving much-needed funds. We also saw over 21,000 Benevity community members showing up to volunteer this year, 17% more people than last year, and they logged almost 260,000 volunteer hours – over 6,000 more hours of giving back. That’s over 29 years worth of hours in just one day.
Our community came together, using funds, time or just sheer goodness, to make a major impact on this day of global generosity — more proof that doing just One Good Thing can help transform the world. Some of the top nonprofits who were supported included St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, American Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and United Way Greater Toronto.
This is just the start of what we can accomplish when we work together to create change. Get inspired by the many ways Benevity clients encouraged their employees to participate in GivingTuesday 2024.
Creative ways our clients celebrated GivingTuesday 2024
- Our clients raised the stakes, with many matching employee donations at 2:1 – even as high as 3:1! – to maximize their GivingTuesday impact.
- Employee Resource Groups, like Hootsuite’s LGBTQ+ and Women’s ERGs, created their own special matching campaigns, celebrating the importance of supporting passionate communities within larger organizations.
- Countless teams hosted their largest volunteer events of the year on GivingTuesday, making big splashes in their local communities. Visa even doubled volunteer rewards for GivingTuesday.
- Many fully remote organizations, or those with deskless workers, took advantage of virtual volunteering opportunities, like digitally mapping with Humanitarian OpenStreetMap and Lemontree, so employees could get involved whenever and wherever worked best for them.
- Companies all over, like LinkedIn, encouraged their community of members, customers and employees to share stories of how they give back to causes they care about – because they know telling your story can inspire a movement and create greater impact.
Keep the momentum going – here’s how
Please note: some links may be gated. Log in to the B-Hive to access these resources — here’s a guide.
- Giving account balances are meant to be donated – remind your people of campaigns you still have running for Giving Season, and encourage them to donate any unused seeding or rewards to nonprofits who need them most!
- Help your people find the latest and greatest ways to volunteer and get rewarded sooner – automatically approve tracked volunteer time and schedule opportunities to auto-archive when complete so new volunteer options can rise to the top.
- See where your impact stacks up, and plan your next move – the Benevity Impact Index helps benchmark your program maturity and compare your strategies to other companies in your industry, helping you find ways to tweak your approach going into the new year. Reach out to your CSM for more information. Not a client yet? Let's chat about your program needs and goals.
- Share your year of impact with the team – without data your employees might not grasp just how much of a difference they’re making, or the difference your company is making through grantmaking. Pull program reports to tell your story or level up with Benevity Impact Reports so you can show how your giving and volunteering data translates into tangible social outcomes.
