Why attend

Why watch

How do you create a program that empowers employees, aligns with business goals and delivers meaningful community impact — all while navigating the constraints of a highly regulated industry? Takeda, a global biopharmaceutical leader, shows what’s possible with a trust-based approach that thrives in even the most complex environments.

Takeda’s U.S. Community Health team has scaled its program by applying trust-based principles to its grant portfolio and deepening employee engagement across the organization — from office staff to manufacturing and deskless employees.

Join us to hear from Christiane Boezio, associate director of U.S. Community Engagement at Takeda, as she shares how her team has scaled impact across the U.S. while navigating limited resources and the unique complexities of the life sciences industry.

Watch to:
  • Learn how Takeda applies trust-based principles to its U.S. grant portfolio to strengthen community impact
  • See how a lean team is expanding employee engagement, reaching manufacturing and other deskless employees
  • Discover practical insights on navigating resource constraints, leadership buy-in and more in the pharma industry to build a resilient program
Key learnings:

Trust-based principles strengthen both grants and engagement. Takeda applied trust-based philanthropy practices — like multiyear, largely unrestricted funding and streamlined applications — to reduce burden on nonprofits and build more equitable, resilient community partnerships.

Values-led decision-making builds credibility. Takeda’s framework of “Patient–Trust–Reputation–Business,” ensures that CSR efforts align with the company’s broader mission while reinforcing trust internally and externally.

Inclusive engagement reaches every employee. With 19,000 U.S. employees — from office staff to plasma center technicians — Takeda designed more inclusive opportunities like on-site volunteering, virtual options, and tailored communication channels to better connect with manufacturing and deskless workers.

Efficient operations unlock capacity. Operating with a small team, Takeda streamlined processes (like auto-approving matching gifts), set realistic growth expectations, and used AI to free up capacity for strategy and relationship building.

Leadership alignment amplifies impact. By tying CSR priorities in food security and STEM education to Takeda’s mission of advancing health, the team strengthens leadership support and demonstrates how social impact reinforces both community well-being and business goals.
