Cookie policy

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer by the websites that you visit; they are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, facilitate user authentication for services, provide analytical information to assess site performance and availability, as well as support personalizing your online experience. We use cookies for the following purposes:

  • to facilitate secure online access so you do not need to enter your user ID and password again when you access the application;
  • to record your preferences;
  • to ease navigation and increase the user-friendliness of the application; and
  • to analyze the usage of the application and/or to identify the most popular sections.

Benevity cookies collect information that includes the date and time of your visit, authentication identifiers, and session identifiers to store information about your preferences or your past actions on the site. You can manage your cookie preferences below.

We classify the use of cookies into four categories:

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms.

You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies but blocking these cookies will prevent the site from working.

Performance/Analytics cookies

These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site.

If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our site and will not be able to monitor its performance.

Functional cookies

These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalization. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have integrated or added to our pages.

If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these services may not function properly

Social media & marketing cookies

Marketing cookies help us track the effectiveness of our digital marketing activities. Social media cookies are set by a range of social media services that we have added to the site to enable you to share our content with your friends and networks. They are capable of tracking your browser across other sites and building up a profile of your interests. This may impact the content and messages you see on other websites you visit. If you do not allow these cookies you may not be able to use or see these sharing tools.

If you do not allow these cookies then some services or integrations may not function properly

Our websites are scanned with our cookie scanning tool regularly to keep the list updated. We also provide information on the type of cookie (first v. third party) and the lifespan of the cookie (session v. persistent).

Types of cookies

  • ‘Session cookie’ remain in your browser during your browser session only, i.e., until you leave the website.
  • ‘Persistent cookies’  remain in your browser after the session (unless deleted by you).
  • ‘First-party’ cookies are directly stored by the website (or domain) you visit. These cookies allow website owners to collect analytics data, remember language settings, and perform other useful functions that provide a good user experience.
  • ‘Third party’ cookies are created by domains that are not the website (or domain) that you are visiting. These are usually used related to social media, marketing or analytics purposes and placed on a website through adding scripts or tags. A third-party cookie is accessible on any website that loads the third-party server’s code.

For clarity, Benevity does not sell your Personal Information, nor do we share Personal Information with any third party (except those as necessary to provide our Services).  Please see our Privacy Policy for more details.

Cookie technologies

“Cookies” may refer to “http cookie”, flash cookie” (used by some applications or website relying on Flash technology), local storage area of your internet browser, unique identifier calculated from your internet browser characteristics (also known as “browser fingerprinting”), or unique identifiers related to your device or your internet browser (e.g., device serial number, MAC address, Android ID, advertising ID).

In addition to cookies, we may use other technologies, including single-pixel images (also known as web beacons) on Benevity Sites and in e-mail messages or newsletters. These tiny electronic images assist us in determining how many users have visited certain pages or opened messages or newsletters. We do not use these images or beacons to collect personally identifiable Information.

Using your browser to control cookies

Most browsers allow you to view, manage, delete and block cookies for a website. Be aware that if you delete all cookies then any preferences you have set will be lost, including the ability to opt out from cookies as this function itself requires placement of an opt-out cookie on your device.  Guidance on how to control cookies for common browsers is linked below.

Google Chrome        Mozilla Firefox         MacOS Safari Desktop or Mobile     Microsoft Edge

For information on additional browsers and device types please see http://www.cookiecentral.com/faq/

Changes to this cookie policy

Benevity will update this Cookie Policy periodically to reflect the changes in our practices and services and also to remain compliant to Data Protection Laws and Regulations.

We hope the above information has clarified cookies for you; if there is something that you are not sure whether you need or not it is usually safer to leave cookies enabled in case its does interact with one of the features you use on our site.

However, if you are still looking for more information, you can contact us by email privacy@benevity.com.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics (GA4) is a service used by organizations to understand how their sites and apps are used, so that they can make them work better. It does not track people or profile people across the internet. To ensure these cookies meet GDPR requirements, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store individual IP addresses. In the European Union, when analytics collects measurement data, all IP Lookups (which populate the City, Continent, County, Region & Subcontinent fields) are done on EU-based servers. Analytics does provide coarse geo-location data by deriving the following metadata from IP addresses: City (and the derived latitude, and longitude of the city), Continent, Country, Region, Subcontinent (and ID-based counterparts). For EU-based traffic, IP-address data is used solely for geo-location data derivation before being immediately discarded. It is not logged, accessible, or used for any additional use cases.

Please refer to Google’s Privacy & Terms https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites;

New Relic

These cookies are used to provide application performance monitoring information to Benevity’s Site Reliability Engineering team, where only a unique session ID is captured. More information about these cookies can be found https://newrelic.com/termsandconditions/cookie-policy
