Benevity Introduces the Givatron, the First Charity-of-Choice Giving App for Android Devices

Written by Benevity | Dec 21, 2010 6:13:00 PM

Just in time for consumers who want to make mobile donations to charities before the end of the year, Benevity Social Ventures, Inc. (www.benevity.org), today announced the launch of the Givatron™ in Beta, the first open-choice charitable giving application for Android-based mobile devices. The new app is free for consumers and lets users of Android devices easily find and make mobile donations of any amount to any registered charity in North America.

The Givatron™ gives Android users the convenience of making private, secure, tax-receiptable donations to their chosen charities from their mobile devices. Android users who install the free application can quickly search for their charity of choice from a database that includes all registered charities in the United States and Canada. Once a charity is selected, users then complete their donation using the in-app PayPal® payment process. Donors immediately receive an official tax receipt via e-mail and can decide whether to provide their donor information to the chosen charity. The new app enables charities to receive donations of any amount from Android users, anywhere and anytime, with no on-boarding requirements. As with its other applications, Benevity provides the back-end platform that facilitates donation processing, aggregation of micro-donations, distribution of funds and tax receipt capabilities. Future versions of the application will include more of the Benevity suite of innovative donation management and cause marketing functionality, making the Givatron™ a full-featured giving utility that enables individuals and companies to effect mobile donations and take other social actions on their terms.

“Mobile is increasingly where consumers live and also where they want to give. We had a bit of fun with the name, and we’re excited to launch the first charity-of-choice giving application for Android devices to give people a convenient and easy way to donate, on the go, to the causes that matter to them,” said Bryan de Lottinville, CEO of Benevity. “It’s also extremely cost effective and timely for recipient charities compared to text-based solutions and they don’t have to lift a finger on processing. Part of our social mission is to make giving to the charity of one’s choice as easy and prevalent as leaving a tip at a restaurant, and the Givatron – particularly future versions - is another neat step along the way.”

Consumers with Android-based mobile devices can download the Givatron™ in Beta from the Android marketplace via the following link:
